We offer accelerated state-approved teacher preparation programs with an optional Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) degree that can help you reach your goal. This online program, with specializations in early childhood education or special education, meets the educational requirements* needed to teach in birth to grade 12 classrooms or other educational settings. Special Education Endorsement Programs The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership offers state-approved† Special Education Endorsement Programs with an optional M.S. in Education with a specialization in Special Education. For licensed teachers who want to transition into a special education classroom or bring these skills to their current teaching area, our practical, accelerated programs combine the flexibility of online learning with hands-on field experiences. In 8 to 16 months (depending on program choice and individual progress), you can enhance your skills and increase your professional opportunities by fulfilling the requirements needed to teach P–12 students with special needs. Walden University’s M.S. in Mental Health Counseling is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), which is a requirement for licensure in many states.
